LeapFrog TAG Reading System

tagreaderMy husband and I bought this for our daughter at Christmas, and other than making sure it worked, we hadn’t really played with it much.  Her older sister taught her how to use it (Ha!  How’s that for parenting!)

We brought it out again tonight and I found out how cool it really was.  When we bought it, it seemed like the idea was neat, but we didn’t put a ton of thought into it.

For those of you who haven’t seen one of these nifty gadgets, it is like a large pen with a speaker on it.  You have to buy different special books, which of course all cost an arm and a leg, and download the books to the pen.

The pen when pressed to the pages of the books.  It recognizes which book it is and what is on the page.  She can hit the read button, and it will read all of the words on the page, or she can touch each word individually at it will read them.  She can run it along the sentence and it will read it as a sentence.

These are also little games that they can play on some pages that test comprehension and letter and word skills.

I am really pleased with our purchase and so is Lauren.

Here is a list of the TAG Library.
